ABOUT US

The Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1990. It is a not-for-profit organization which was established to honor outstanding persons, living or deceased, who have gained prominence and made substantial contributions, on behalf of themselves and Suffolk County, in the fields of professional as well as amateur sports. As of 2007, we have inducted a total of 209 people into our hall of fame. These individuals represent the best in Suffolk County's sports, and include athletes, coaches, officials, journalists, newscasters, physically challenged athletes and Special Olympians.

The Suffolk Sports Hall of fame will act as a public museum and education facility, and will house memorabilia, educational materials, a sports library and a mini-theatre, as well as interactive displays. It will actively communicate the positive achievements of Suffolk County's sports role models, and serve as a center to educate today's students and adults on the cultural, historical and human contributions of the honorees in the world of athletics.
