Frank Tepedino Inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 - Born in Brooklyn, Frank grew up playing sandlot ball. In 1965, he was drafted, in the first baseball draft, by the Baltimore Orioles,.He was the 36th player and the first one from the New York area. In the winter of 1966, he was drafted by the NY Yankees, he went to spring training in 1967. Frank played along side other great players like; Mickey Mantel and Whitey Ford. He was in the dugout when Mickey hit his 500th home run. In 1973 he was traded to the Atlanta Braves and shared in team pride as Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's home run record, Frank replaced Hank at first base during that game. he went on later to retire from baseball in 1978. Mr. Tepedino has been the subject of two (2) TV sp0ecials and made appearances on the YES TV network. Frank threw out the 1st pitch at the 2001 playoff have at Yankee Stadium and he played in the 2002 Old Timers Game. Frank along with a former Yankee teammate, Rusty Torres, founded a youth program, "Winning Beyond Winning", where former major league players give back to their communities by speaking to youngsters about the problems of drug and alcohol abuse.
