The East Islip baseball program is among the most successful in New York State, Long Island, and Suffolk County history. In 2007, the program was recognized as a Special Recognition inductee of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame. It was the first baseball program to receive this honor.
The program debuted in 1928 under head coach Peter Rogers, who coached the Redmen through 1953. He had a record of 281-55.
Sal Ciampi, who took over as coach in 1974 and was at the helm of the program for 31 years, had an incredible and historic record of 601-183-1, and he retired as the winningest baseball coach in Suffolk County history.
East Islip had recorded more than 1,200 wins and had seven Yastrzemski honorees – presented to the top player in the county – as a program at the time of their recognition in 2007.
