Dave Cohen, a Commack native, came to Wake in 2013 after a stint as the defensive coordinator at Rutgers University. He was formerly the defensive coordinator for the Western Michigan Broncos football team and the final head coach of Hofstra University’s football program.

He coached the Pride from 2006 through 2009 when Hofstra announced it dropped football. He has also worked at Rutgers, Fordham, and Albany.

Cohen was a three-time league champion, All-County, and All-Long Island selection at Commack North High School.

While playing at C.W. Post, Cohen was a two-year starter at defensive tackle and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors as a senior.
