Tony Melito began his career as a football official in 1974.  He rose through the ranks and was promoted to Varsity Level in 1978.

In his first year on Varsity Crew, he had the pleasure of being an official at a Suffolk County Playoff game. 

In 1989, Tony became a Head Referee and selected his crew. Since that time and as we advance, he has officiated many Playoff Games. He was the number one Football Official in Suffolk County for several years, consistently ranking in the Top 8 every year.   

During his 50-year career in SCFOA, Tony has mentored and taught many football officials on the fundamentals of being a good official.  

His respect for his fellow Officials, Suffolk County Football Coaches, and Section XI has provided him with a sense of accomplishment and pride. 

Tony has been married for 54 years, and has a son, daughter, and four grandchildren.
