At the time of his retirement he was the winningest coach in Suffolk County history, but the record was later broken in 2000 by Sal Ciampi.

His teams made the playoffs in 29 of the 33 seasons he coached.

The baseball field was named in his honor in 1992.

In 2017, he was an inaugural inductee of the Islip Hall of Fame.
