Bryan served as varsity baseball coach at Commack High School from 2017 to 2021, building one of Long Island’s premier baseball programs.

Guided Commack to a remarkable 78-21-1 record and made the playoffs every year. He led the program to three league championships, two county championships, and a Long Island championship.

Known not only for winning but also for creating a culture where players genuinely loved being around their coach, who also tried to be a mentor and friend. He was respected for his leadership, positivity, and compassion.

His fellow coaches called him an organized, detail-oriented leader who consistently positioned his teams and players for success.

A Commack High School graduate himself, Bonin played high school baseball and basketball… and was a four-year starting shortstop at LIU-Post.

Brian courageously battled melanoma for more than a year before passing away on Jan. 25, 2022, at the age of 33.

The baseball field at Commack High School was named after him, and his legacy will continue for generations.

Bryan’s wife, Lauren, and his children, Ella and Luke, accepted the plaque on his behalf.
