Buffalo Sabres Host Val James Night to Honor Long Island Legend

The Buffalo Sabres hosted Val James Night to honor the 40th anniversary of Val breaking the color barrier for Black American hockey players in the NHL.

James, who grew up in Hauppauge, NY, was the first Black American NHL player and carries that legacy proudly today.

He was inducted to the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 2021.
