Cole has been the Centereach High School field hockey coach for 32 years, since they opened their doors in 1970. She retired from Centereach in 2002, but went back to coaching in 2003 at Ward Melville.
She achieved her 500th victory on October 14, 2004 with the Ward Melville team.
In 1973, her team was undefeated, untied and unscored upon all season.
In 1976, her record was 17-0-0. She has 31 League/division titles, 14 Long Island titles and six State titles to date. She has coached 14 NCAA All-Americans, including Tracy Fuchs, who went on to become an Olympian.
She died in 2015 at the age of 67.
