Crowley resides in Holbrook. He began his basketball officiating career back in 1957 and officially retired in 2009, after over 50 years in college basketball.
He has collegiately officiated in the Big East, Atlantic 10, MAAC, Ivy, Patriot, Sun Belt, SEC, and ACC conferences. He was selected to officiate at the NCAA finals (Division I men’s championship game) in 1989 and 1991. In 1990, he was the Naismith Official of the Year.
He officiated at international games as well as major tournaments such as the Pan American Games, Central American Games and Special Olympics. He also helped develop a computerized system for rating officials which is still being used today. His last officiating job was in the 1991 NCAA final – Duke vs. Kansas.
He went on to be the Supervisor of the Region 15 Junior Colleges, The Atlantic 10 and finally the Ivy and Patriot Leagues.
Crowley passed away in 2019.
