DeCillis has been serving Suffolk County youths in athletics for over 50 years.

He spent 38 years in the Middle Country School District (35 of them as Athletic Director) and later served as an interim athletic director following his formal retirement.

From 1956 to 1959 he was the head football, basketball and track coach at Newfield where he was also a physical education teacher.

In 1998, the football field at Newfield was dedicated to him.

Nick has been given numerous awards by the state and county for his achievements and dedication, including induction tot he NYSPHSAA Hall of Fame.

He has helped Section XI, the governing body of athletics in Suffolk County, with sales and business development for more than 25 years in the later part of his life and career.
