The ice rink in Dix Hills was named in honor of Clark Gillies in May 2022. Gillies, a longtime Huntington resident, was inducted to the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.

He was a key piece of the championship years for the New York Islanders and made Suffolk County his home.

A number of family, friends and former teammates were in attendance in Huntington for the renaming.
