Tony “Doc” Donatelli is one of the most respected sports doctors in Long Island history.
School-based medicine practice since 1987; currently provides medical services to Deer Park, Islip, North Babylon, Bayport Blue Point, Patchogue Medford, Bay Shore, South Country (Bellport), Sayville, Lindenhurst, Smithtown, East Islip, Sachem and Shoreham Wading River school districts in Suffolk County.
His athletic career started as a three-sport athlete at Deer Park High School, where he wrestled, played football, and played track and field. Represented Allegheny College in 1977, 1978, and 1979. NCAA Division 3 qualifier 1977 and 1979.
Sideline attended over 1300 football games, including 5 Long Island championships, 12 Suffolk County championships, and 3 Nassau championships.
Section 11 wrestling tournament physician last three decades. NYSPHSAA wrestling tournament physician since 2008.
While serving as the New York State Freestyle and Greco-Roman team physician at the national championships in Fargo, Doc learned a new way to x cauliflower ears from an ENT physician working with the California state wrestling team. Doc has done over 600 modified tie-through, or “button” procedures.
He was inducted into the NY Downstate Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2019.
