Bill Edwards spent more than 25 years as the head softball coach at Hofstra University. He retired as one of just 26 Division I coaches with more than 900 career wins.
In 2012, he led the Pride to its first ever NCAA Regional championship. They have never had a losing season since Bill took over, and had a regular season or postseason conference title in each of the last 22 seasons.
He has won numerous coaching awards over the years, and was inducted into the National Fast Pitch Coaches Assn. Hall of Fame in 2009.
The softball field is named in his honor at Hofstra University.
