A West Islip native, Ryan Flanagan was a three-time All-American and NCAA Defenseman of the Year in 2010 at North Carolina. Flanagan was an All-ACC selection and named to the All-ACC Tournament team. He founded 24/7 Lacrosse in Charlotte, which has since merged with Team 91 Lacrosse and created a significant lacrosse development and training program in the southeast. Flanagan played in the MLL with the Charlotte Hounds and Long Island Lizards. At West Islip, he helped the Lions, then ranked No. 1 in the nation, win New York State titles in 2006 and 2007.
