Gamboli has been the golf coach at Sayville High School for 40 years. Since taking over the boys program in 1967, he has led them to over 30 league titles. From 1971-97, his teams won 27 consecutive league championships and they have had 21 undefeated seasons.

In 1998, he helped start the first girls varsity team in the state of New York (they went 8-0) and compiled a 40-4 record over four years. Tony returned to the boys program in 2002.

In 2004, he was selected as the National High School Golf Coach of the Year and inducted into the National High School Athletics Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

He resides in Sayville.
