Laura Gentile is a former three-sport athlete at Sachem High School, where she excelled in field hockey, basketball and softball. She was named Sachem’s top female scholar-athlete in 1990.
Gentile went on to play field hockey at Duke University, where she was an All-American in 1992, and graduated as Duke’s all-time leading scorer. She was awarded an NCAA and ACC Post Graduate scholarship, which enabled her to earn an MBA from Boston College.
Starting at ESPN in 2003, Gentile pushed for the company to put a greater focus on women as part of their audience. She founded ESPNW as a blog in 2010 and it has grown into a dynamic website that serves as the home for content about women in sports for the World Wide Leader in Sports. She was SVP of ESPNW and was promoted to SVP of marketing for the entire company.
She is also an inductee of the Sachem Athletic Hall of Fame.
Laura lives with her family in Connecticut.
