He was considered the dean of Suffolk County basketball coaches until the time of his death.  His record was 365-180 losses.

His teams won 14 league titles, 4 county titles and 1 Long Island championship.

Gugliotta is the father of former NBA player Tom Gugliotta, who is also an inductee of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame.
