Hart is a Canadian retired professional hockey player who played 730 games in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Islanders, Quebec Nordiques, and St. Louis Blues. He retired in 1982.

In October 1992, he, along with college roommates, opened “The Rinx” recreation complex located in Hidden Pond Park in Hauppauge.
