Howie Heckman coached boys varsity baseball and soccer at Center Moriches High School from 1946 to 1980 and basketball from 1946 to 1956. He also coached girls varsity basketball and softball.
His boys soccer teams never finished lower than third and compiled a record of 381-84-38, including five county championships and 17 league titles. His boys baseball teams record was 357-192, with 11 league titles and two county championships.
He coached Paul Gibson (baseball) and Sue Wicks (basketball) who both went on to become professionals.
Heckman is also an inductee of the Center Moriches Athletic Hall of Fame. He died when he was 91.
