HOFer Darrel Young Speaks with Port Jeff Sports History Class

Former NFL player and current Steelers player development director Darrel Young was the latest guest in the Port Jeff sports history class as part of a partnership with the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame.

Young, who was inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 2022, is an Amityville native and spent the majority of his career in Washington from 2009 to 2015.

He spoke to the students about his journey in football and transition from the field to front office. His insight on working directly for Steelers coach Mike Tomlin provided a behind-the-scenes look at the business of football.

There will be monthly guest speakers connected to the Hall of Fame, all offering deep insight into sports history, business, and media.
