Mike Huey dedicated 34 years to the Mattituck-Cutchogue School District, serving as a physical education teacher, coach and athletic administrator while leaving a lasting impact on generations of student-athletes.

He coached varsity soccer, basketball and tennis before spending 29 years as Athletic Director, earning a reputation as one of Suffolk County’s most respected leaders in interscholastic athletics.

Throughout his career, Mike held numerous leadership positions within Section XI, including Conference IV President, Athletic Council member and President of the Athletic Directors Association. He was named Suffolk County Athletic Director of the Year in 2009 for his outstanding service and leadership.

A passionate advocate for high school soccer, Mike served as Suffolk County Boys Soccer Chairman for 26 years and played a key role on New York State soccer committees, helping shape policies, tournament seeding, classifications and awards.

His contributions to athletics have been recognized with induction into the New York Soccer Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Center Moriches High School Hall of Fame in 2018. Throughout his distinguished career, Mike has been widely respected for his integrity, leadership and unwavering commitment to student-athletes and high school sports across Suffolk County.
