Suffolk Sports Hall of Famer and Stony Brook women’s lacrosse coach Joe Spallina earned his sixth America East Coach of the Year honor and first since the 2018 season.

• He engineered the nation’s best scoring defense this year, as the squad allowed 6.69 goals per game this season.
• The squad also ranked in the top 10 nationally in caused turnovers per game (10.81), clearing percentage (.925), scoring margin (8.94), shot percentage (.489), turnovers per game (11.44) and win percentage (.875).
• The Seawolves took home eight America East weekly honors, a pair of IWLCA National honors, and had five ILWomen Midseason All-American selections and had his team ranked as high as fourth in the national polls and never lower than seventh during the 2022 campaign.
