Mitch Kupchak, an original inductee of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 1990, has been named as the new General Manager of the Charlotte Hornets.
Kupchak, a Brentwood native, was most recently in charge of the Los Angeles Lakers.
An All-American at the University of North Carolina, Kupchak won three NBA titles as a player, one with Washington and two with Los Angeles. He won another two as an Assistant general manager and four as a general manager with the Lakers.
“In every role and in every stop during his tenure in the NBA, Mitch Kupchak has brought the highest levels of success to his teams. He’s a proven winner,” stated Charlotte Hornets Chairman Michael Jordan after the hiring was officially announced on April 8.
