A resident of Fort Salonga, Lang was a baseball writer in New York for 42 years.
He covered the Mets from their inception in 1962 for the Daily News. As secretary/treasurer of the Baseball Writers Association, it was his job to notify all of the MVP, Cy Young, Rookie and Manager award winners as well as the players elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He was elected to the writer’s wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 1987.
