A Huntington native and Holy Family alum, John Scully is a former professional football player who was a guard in the NFL for 10 seasons during the 1980s and early 1990s. Scully played college football for the University of Notre Dame and earned All-American honors. He played for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons his entire pro career. Uniquely, and wrote the popular Notre Dame anthem “Here Come the Irish.” The Atlanta Falcons chose Scully in the fourth round (109th pick overall) of the 1981 NFL Draft, and he played for the Falcons from 1981 to 1990. In his ten-year NFL career, he played 112 games and started 82.
