Andy Slawson, a Bay Shore native, is best known for his decades of service to high school sports on Long Island as a historian and statistician for Newsday.
The Bay Shore native and Islip Terrace resident has been the assistant high school sports editor at Newsday since 2009 and has worked at the company since 1998.
He has been preserving, recording and documenting local sports history for more than 40 years.
He has built a reputation among the football and wrestling communities as the go-to source for all sports information, and also has a wealth of knowledge and resources for all scholastic sports.
Slawson has been honored by the Suffolk County Wrestling Coaches Association and Suffolk County Football Coaches Association many times with their annual media award.
