Brian Spallina was inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame this year but could not attend the May ceremony. He accepted his plaque from Hall of Fame President Chris R. Vaccaro.

Even though it’s in Nassau County, they met at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium. Both men graduated from Hofstra. Vaccaro is a professor and director of graduate journalism at the university.

Spallina was a two-time All-American at Hofstra before having an illustrious pro career. He won more professional lacrosse championships (7) than anyone in the game’s history. He is also the founder of Team 91 Lacrosse, one of the nation’s premier youth lacrosse organizations.

He was also recently inducted into the Professional Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Hofstra Athletic Hall of Fame.
