The Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame kicked off its partnership with Port Jefferson High School on Friday, September 9 when Hall of Fame president Chris Vaccaro lectured at the school’s new sports history class.
The sports history course was developed and is taught by Bryan Vaccaro, a social studies teacher and multi-sport coach at the high school.
The Hall of Fame president spoke about the history and purpose of the Hall and touched on dozens of impactful moments in Long Island sports history.
This is the first program of its kind in the 32-year history of the Hall of Fame, which serves to honor people and places of historic significance in Suffolk County.
Throughout the school year there will be multiple guest speakers who are inductees of the Hall of Fame.
