Gordon Forbes, a longtime pro football writer and editor at USA Today, died in June 2020. He was 90.
Forbes, who was inducted to the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 2001, attended Patchogue-Medford High School before embarking on a career in journalism.
He attended Duke University and worked at the Patchogue Advance after graduating college.
He worked at USA Today from 1982 through 2002 and covered 39 Super Bowls and received the prestigious Dick McCann Memorial Award from the Football Writers Association of America in 1988.
