With an eye toward meeting their respective missions of inspiring the next generation, the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame and the Suffolk County Police Athletic League have announced a partnership to launch a leadership institute.
The Suffolk HOF-Suffolk PAL Leadership Institute will utilize the messages and motivation from Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame inductees to educate and inspire student-athletes in existing PAL programs.
Chris R. Vaccaro, President of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame: “When I think about organizations in Suffolk County working hard to impact kids through sports, I immediately think about the Suffolk County Police Athletic League, and I want to make sure the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame supports its efforts. One of our missions is to inspire the next generation. I can not think of a better way of motivating kids than having our inductees speak with them at PAL events, games, and practices. We can collaborate and make an impact, and I can’t wait to kick off the program.”
Donald Yorie, Director of Development for the Suffolk PAL: “Suffolk County PAL is excited to partner with the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in creating this leadership development program. Fifty-one years of providing sports and recreational activities have taught us that leadership is a process of self-development and self-examination. Sports, especially, have become a crucible for developing resolve and resilience. We at Suffolk PAL strive to promote positive growth in our youth through our programs. No one person can make you a leader; however, given the chance to learn how to lead and inspire others from some of the best in their fields is a wonderful opportunity for our youth. Who best to learn and be inspired from are those who have been there, our Suffolk Sports Hall of Famers!”
Both organizations will commit to promoting and attending each other’s events and working collaboratively on other innovative ideas in education, community relations, and development to build on the momentum they have created in recent years.
Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame inductees will begin attending PAL events this fall as guest speakers and motivational voices.
