Team Up 4 Community, Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame Announce 2026 Community Impact Honorees

Team Up 4 Community and the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame are proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Community Impact Honorees Award: Elizabeth Sultan of Westhampton Beach High School and Louis Montellese of Ward Melville High School.

The recognition celebrates student-athletes who have used their platform to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others through service, leadership, advocacy, and community engagement.

Elizabeth Sultan, a standout member of the Westhampton Beach girls varsity soccer and track teams, turned personal tragedy into a mission of compassion and support. Following the loss of her brother, Peter, Sultan founded Peter’s Packages, an initiative dedicated to helping children and young adults navigate grief. Through care packages and outreach efforts, she has provided comfort and encouragement to those facing some of life’s most difficult moments.

Louis Montellese has carried forward a powerful legacy of service through his involvement with the Louis J. Acompora Foundation. Inspired by the organization’s mission to promote cardiac safety awareness, Montellese has helped lead fundraising efforts and advocacy initiatives that support AED Save Stations and increase access to life-saving equipment in schools and communities across Long Island. Acompora is an inductee of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame.

Both honorees exemplify the tremendous impact young people can have when they combine athletic participation with a commitment to serving others. Their efforts extend far beyond competition, demonstrating leadership, empathy, and a dedication to strengthening their communities.

The student-athletes will be formally recognized later this month with plaque presentations at their respective schools.

“This partnership reflects the heart of what sports are all about, building character and creating a better community,” said Chris R. Vaccaro, president of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame. “Elizabeth and Louis have shown that true leadership is measured by the impact we have on others. Their dedication to service makes them deserving recipients of this recognition.”

“We are honored to collaborate in inspiring the next generation to lead with purpose and compassion,” said Teresa Webb, executive director of Team Up 4 Community. “These remarkable young people have demonstrated that community service and advocacy can create lasting change, and we are proud to celebrate their contributions.”

The Community Impact Honorees recognition underscores the shared mission of Team Up 4 Community and the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame to celebrate individuals who use sports as a vehicle for positive change and community leadership
