The Long Island Ducks and the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame have unveiled a newly renovated and expanded exhibit inside Fairfield Properties Ballpark, continuing a longtime partnership dedicated to preserving and celebrating Long Island Ducks history.
The updated exhibit features modern wall art, refreshed imagery and enhanced storytelling elements that highlight both the baseball and hockey legacies connected to the “Ducks” name in Suffolk County sports history.
New additions to the Hall of Fame wall include Ducks baseball legends and executives Mike Pfaff, Lew Ford, John Brophy and John Muckler, all of whom have made lasting impacts on professional sports on Long Island.
The redesigned exhibit is organized into several themed sections, each honoring a different chapter of Ducks history and Suffolk County athletics. One wall focuses on the history of Ducks baseball and the franchise’s championship lineage, celebrating the organization’s success and role in shaping Long Island’s professional sports identity. Another section is dedicated to the original Ducks hockey franchise, which played at Commack’s Long Island Arena from 1959 to 1973, paying tribute to a foundational era in Suffolk County sports history.
A third wall highlights Ducks baseball players, executives and front office leaders who have been inducted into the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame, recognizing their impact both on and off the field.
Additional design elements throughout the exhibit include doorway displays featuring Hall of Fame committee members alongside historic images from past Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame inductions and ceremonies, as well as Ducks players and officials. One of the exhibit’s most distinctive storytelling pieces is a visual installation inspired by a Newsday column by Hall of Fame President Chris R. Vaccaro on the generational impact of former Ducks owner Frank Boulton following the franchise’s sale in 2026.
The feature reflects on Boulton’s role in building the Ducks into one of Long Island’s most beloved sports institutions and preserving independent baseball on Long Island for generations of fans.
The Fairfield Properties Ballpark exhibit is one of 11 exhibits curated by the Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame throughout Suffolk County as part of the organization’s ongoing mission to preserve local sports history and inspire future generations through storytelling, education and community engagement.
