A Sachem alumnus and Farmingville native, Keith Kinkaid is widely regarded as the most accomplished goaltender from Long Island in hockey history. He played parts of 10 seasons in the National Hockey League, establishing himself as one of the region’s premier hockey players.

Kinkaid first rose to prominence with the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League, where he earned league MVP and Goaltender of the Year honors in 2009. He led the league in wins, goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts.

He continued his standout career at Union College, helping lead the program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance. Kinkaid was named a First-Team All-American and captured the ECAC’s Ken Dryden Award as the conference’s top goaltender.

Despite going undrafted, Kinkaid signed with the New Jersey Devils in 2011 and went on to enjoy a successful NHL career. He also played for the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche.

His finest NHL season came in 2017-18 with the Devils, when he posted a 26-10 record with a .913 save percentage. Over his NHL career, Kinkaid recorded 70 victories and finished with a .905 career save percentage.
