North Babylon, NY — April 30, 2025 — The Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame proudly announced the launch of a new satellite exhibit at the Town of Babylon Annex, celebrating the achievements of Hall of Fame inductees with ties to the Greater Babylon community. Situated along the walls outside the newly dedicated Tom Gargiulo Gymnasium, this exhibit pays tribute to local sports figures who have made significant contributions to the rich athletic history of Suffolk County.
“This wall isn’t just a celebration of the past—it’s a spark for the future,” said Chris R. Vaccaro, President of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame. “We want every kid who walks through the annex to see those names and faces and to believe that greatness is within reach—and that they, too, can leave their mark on this community.”
“This exhibit is a proud reminder that greatness can start right here in our hometowns,” said Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer. “From little league fields to professional arenas, the athletes honored here show what’s possible when talent meets determination—and we’re thrilled to celebrate their legacy.”
There are more than 40 names in the exhibit, including Danny Green (North Babylon, NBA), Billy Koch (West Babylon, MLB), Darryl Young (NFL), Chris Wingert (Babylon, MLS), Bria Hartley (North Babylon, WNBA), and many others. Hall of Famers Kia Wright (Copiague basketball) and Warren Fuller (Wyandanch basketball) were on hand for the unveiling.
This exhibit is part of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame’s ongoing initiative to honor local athletic excellence and inspire future generations. Other satellite exhibits are located at the home of the Long Island Ducks, Huntington Town Hall, the Section XI offices in Farmingville, Long Island Sports and Rehabilitation in Holbrook, and Long Island MacArthur Airport.
It is also part of a year-long celebration marking the Hall of Fame’s 35th anniversary, with special partnerships taking place across Suffolk County to honor its legacy of community impact. Next up, the Hall will launch a historical marker in Babylon Village on May 31, commemorating the 140th anniversary of the New York Cuban Giants becoming the first all-Black baseball team in American history.
The Town of Babylon Annex is located on Phelps Lane, North Babylon. The exhibit is open to the public during the building’s regular hours.
